Human security problems among young people (A qualitative study on youth in the city of Al-Marj - 2023)

Abstract

The study aims to explore the structural sources of human security problems among Libyan youth after 2011, by analyzing how unequal opportunities in education affect the human security of young people, with a focus on their internal awareness of how to live with this crisis, studying the repercussions of unequal opportunities in employment.On the human security of young people, and analyzing their adaptive strategies in light of changing social structures This study used the qualitative approach to answer its questions, using the narrative research method, through the semi-open in-depth interview tool, and the most important results were as follows:

1- The weakness of the social value system, administrative and financial corruption, weak citizenship, the dominance of sub-loyalties (regional and tribal), the spread of drugs, and the absence of a sense of security and reassurance in daily life.
2- Unemployment today constitutes one of the economic challenges for Libyan youth, especially graduates.This threat has resulted in extremely dangerous social variables such as crime and behavioral deviations, which undoubtedly hinder the process of economic and social development.
3- The difficult circumstances that Libyan society went through were the reason for not obtaining housing and the delay in the age of marriage, which led to the spread of many psychological diseases among young people
